Time is relative

The minutes are long but the years are short…

Our perception of time is not always the same as the time measured by a stopwatch…

Over the years, years and days seem to elapse faster and faster…

Why? Tell me Why?

My feeling is that our brain estimates the duration of things relatively to what it has already lived:

For a 2 year old child, 1 year is extremely long, it is half of his life.
For a 10 year old, 1 year represents 10% of his life, which is enormous.
For a 20 year old, 1 year represents 5% of his life ...
For an adult of 50 years, it is only 2% ...
